Dejlig weekend i Farum /Wonderful weekend in Farum

Last weekend I was participating in The Miniature Fair in Farum. As always it was a plesure, and where you'll talk to a lot of nice people. Of course, you'll also spend a lot of money, but also bring home a lot of good ideas. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures.

Exately like last year I had a stand beside Hans and Elfi Meier from Nostalgsiche Puppenstuben, and again they had made some fantastic things.

Ups, jeg er nødt til at gå...

Ups, I have to go...

I'm preparing to go to the Miniature Fair in Farum, and I took out the boxes, where I'd carefully hidden all the springflowers.

In this flowerpot with moss, I'm growing narcissus and the small blue hyacinths.

After a visit at the nursery, I've bought som white hollyhocks that will look nice beside my frontdoor.

- at last I've planted some springflowers in some small brass cups. There are snowdrops, crocus and hyacinth.

I've spend some days before Easter to surf on the Internet looking for miniature gardens. There are lots of fantastic websites and I was especially inspired of the miniature gardens made in flowerpots and containers.

Here's my first attempt of making a miniature garden, but absolutely not the last...

I'd forgot to buy mosses, so I had to use what I  could find in my garden, but I think it looks quite nice.

Hav et dejligt forår!

Have a nice springtime!

How to...

I've promised you to write the miniature tips in english too, so here it is.

How to create a miniature scene, that everybody would like to live in.

1. Start with making a detailed story about the miniature scene and the people in it.
Ask yourself:
  • Who are these people?
  • Where do they live?
  • What are their jobs?
  • What are their hobbies?
  • Do they have children and/or pets?
2. Mentally shrink yourself to fit into the scene.
Ask yourself:

  • If I lived here, what would I need?
  • What would I want to have around me?
  • What would I need to pursue my interests?
3. Imagine what's going on at the moment.

  • What day is it?
  • What time of day is it?
  • How's the weather?
  • Who's there?
  • What are they doing?
4. Consider structural changes to add interest.

  • Is there enough room in the scene to include everything that you've imagined?
  • By adding a small room or a view into another room, would that create more interest?
5. Think of timing elements or construction details.

  • Are some parts of the structure built at different times?
  • How have the construction materials aged?

6. Consider the atmosphere you'd like to create.

  • Is it formal or relaxed?
  • Is it neat or messy?
  • Is it comfy or high tech?
7. Imagine the same scene in real life.

  • Include some things that might be strewn about.
  • Remember that you never finish a miniature scene, there's always room for something more.

Have a joyful time.
